Chevelles Put On A Show Thursday Night. Racers tune up for Sunday's Summit Race.

It was "tune up time" Thursday night as many local racers made sure their cars were ready for the March 28th Summit Race at Irwindale Dragstrip. It was also "showtime" for Ilene Pandeles, Pete "Wild Man" Gallup and Erica Nocita as they put on a great show for the crowd with match races throughout the evening. Ilene's "Rosebud" '65 came out on top with consistent low 6 second passes with Pete and Erica not far behind. It was a great way to get ready for the opening race. Can't wait for Sunday!

more and more girl power coming into the ranks.
Don't give them too much help, Ilene. It might
come back to bite you!

"Showtime!"

Lauren Paff Stars in "Love You!" at The Pan Andreas Theatre. Her portrayal of "Mary Lynn" blows our dress up!

Our own Lauren Paff, aka CoLo, (Colorado Lauren), has been at it again! Starring in Lily Ann's "Love You!", Lauren stars in this fun little play at the Pan Andreas Theatre in Hollywood and steals the show! Her portrayal of Mary Lynn, a super star in her own eyes, keeps you smiling the entire evening. The only difference between Marilyn Monroe and Paff's character is that CoLo can sing! Performing several original songs written by Ann, she not only makes these simple little songs work, but makes them her own. She is an artist who knows who she is. This isn't by any means a Karaoke performance, but a "wow" moment in her stage career. Although there were moments given to us by other characters throughout the evening, the night belonged to Lauren. Congratulations CoLo on a most memorable performance. "Love You!"

Lauren made the blonde thing work. She looked
great as "Mary Lynn." Note the artwork in the
back round. Very cool.

Never "pitchy", CoLo allows you to sit back,
relax and enjoy the show. Solid.

Paff goes to the dramatic side seamlessly. Here,
a moment with Andreas Kraemer who plays Toby
Kiss.

after the show. Well done, Miss Paff...and we
really do "Love You!"

"Running a marathon is like having a baby. Everyone is different." Davis digs deep for LA Marathon win.

The 2010 LA Marathon was no walk (or run!) in the park for Margaret Davis. A few weeks before the March 21st event, Mahgy and her running partner and daughter, Colleen Heublein, finished their final training run of 21 miles while also prerunning the course. The problem was that it was raining and the conditions were far from desirable for such a run. As a result, Mahgy came down with a nasty cold with severe flu-like symptoms and battled the illness right up to the race weekend. Besides being severely run down, she had lost several pounds which also depleted her body's overall condition and stamina. But in typical fashion for a runner of her caliber and competitive spirit she decided to run. And run she did! When the finish line tape was broken it was Margaret Davis in the winner's circle again with one of her more memorable performances behind her! Mahgy's condition added additional pressure to Colleen's job as her "wing man", like a quick pit stop at mile marker 8 for a "smoothie." "I don't even like smoothie's but it was the only thing that sounded good", said Mahgy. So Colleen made it happen and the two continued on with renewed energy. Then there was the brief stop where she relieved an LA fireman of his chair so that she could get off her feet for a minute or two. Every marathon takes on it's own life and this one was no exception! It was an amazing finish and one that produced a victory that will not soon be forgotten. Congratulations Mahgy and Colleen! You are both an inspiration to us all!!

This year's race started at Dodger Stadium and
finished in Santa Monica.

At the expo on Saturday before the race Mahgy
is asked to pose for pictures with Yi Joo, a runner
who will cross the country running from L.A. to
New York.

Yi and Mahgy...don't even THINK about it, Mahgy!

Once again, the dynamic duo savoring the taste
of victory and sharing the many stories of the day.

And a good time was had by all! Thank you
Mahgy and Colleen for giving us a chance to
share these experiences with you. You guys

Mayflower PTA's Fourth Annual Parent Party/Fundraising Auction In The Winner's Circle Again! "Pedal to the Metal" event a HUGE success!

This year's Mayflower PTA parent party and fundraiser seemed to have an energy all it's own. From the very beginning you knew that this year's event would be a winner as the 2010 "Pedal to the Metal" committee once again did a masterful job of organizing the fourth annual party. Over 200 parents and friends of the school enjoyed an evening of great food, fellowship and
music as they bid generously on an array of beautifully displayed silent auction items. The evening definitely took on the personality of a party rather than a fundraising event. When it was time for the live auction to get under way several generous parents rose to the occasion once more. The highlight of the evening was the auctioning off of 2 ten week old Yellow Labs, Peaches and Buddy, that each went for $1,500.00!! When the tire smoke cleared, "Pedal to the Metal" raised a record $30,000.00+!!! Congratulations Mayflower PTA and especially to the committee members for putting on such an awesome event. The 2010 committee members:
Betsy Wilson, Jeanine Scott, Sylvia Ellison, Cheryl Gauderman, Andrea Archibald, Desiree Lang, Kim Petulla, Kathryn Hutson, Meg Walker, Maribel Guido, Mindy Minogue and Katie Richter. You guys rock!

A final meeting by the committee before the
start of the event made sure that nothing was
overlooked

These chair wouldn't be empty for long.

Ready for action...I mean auction!

Once again....work, work, work! The things I
have to do for the community and the school....

Kimberly and Mernie took care of the guests
at the bar and did a great job. Thanks girls for
all your hard work!

The variety and quality of the silent auction
items was unbelievable. Check out this bedroom
set. Very nice.

Check in started the party off with a smile.
Once again, the girls had things running
smoothly from the very beginning.

Victor from Tacos La Paloma had his hands full
as the guests came back for seconds and thirds.
Ron Walker jumped in to help things go a little
faster. Nice job, Ron, but don't quit your day
job!

"The Hoister Bar" was rockin' non stop all night.

The "Mariner'sTop Reactor" trophy donated by
Andy Montgomery would be presented to the
winner of the reaction time simulator.

....final instructions. "Don't wait for the green!"

Even committee members gotta' bid! This
stuff is cool!

AJ Nocita stopped by to say hi and the girls
put him to work. Thanks for helping out, AJ.

Even with the action fast and furious, the girls
had a great time.
