Dalcorp goes south of the border to celebrate it's "Next Generation!"

Move over John Force Racing. The REAL next generation is on his way and his name is Dane Edward Roblee! Last Saturday at AREA 51 we celebrated our grandson's first birthday, fiesta style. Dane's favorite food is Mexican, so who better to create a feast for us all than Kelly and Pepper's Mexican Restaurant in Arcadia? No one left this party hungry including the guest of honor, Dane. But it was mostly birthday cake that filled his tummy!

It was really fun to have a few surprise guests show up: cousin Courtney from Colorado, Stacey Street, one of our adopted daughters from San Diego, Stacey's dad, Gene, who didn't know Stacey would be there, along with lots of old friends. Our daughter, Kristy, did a great job of creating the fiesta feel (which is hard to do at AREA 51 with all the memorabilia around) with her decorations and attention to detail, right down to the giant pepper pinata! After lots of whacks with Dane's Padres bat, Mernie finally took care of business and spread thousands of calories of joy all over the driveway for all to scoop up. The homemade cakes were masterpieces and the gifts overwhelming. Thanks to all who came and helped Dane celebrate this very special day.

On the racing front, we'll be back out at Irwindale with the Cobalt and the Chevelle on June 8th for the 3rd of 6 races of the Summit Racing Series. Erica is 3rd in points and is just a few points out of first, and A.J. with his great showing last race moved up towards the top ten in the very competitive Pro class. About a week later, we head off to Denver for the NHRA/NOPI event at Bandimere Raceway on June 21st and 22nd. Thanks again to GM Racing and Carmen Smith for helping us make the Denver trip possible. A special shout goes out to Karen Davis at the Holiday Inn for putting us up that weekend. We met Karen a few years ago when we raced there in 2006 and had the best time with her and the staff. If you're ever up in that neck of the woods, make The Holiday Inn in Lakewood your hotel of choice...and tell 'em Dalcorp sent you! Thanks Karen!

Dalcorp Racing takes the green...the putting green, that is.

Last Friday, May 16th two of Dalcorp's finest represented us in the annual Don Montgomery Memorial Golf Tournament at Azusa Greens in Azusa, California. The once a year event has become a "must play" tournament for all the local heavy hitters as well as some out of state players, always producing some excellent scores. There's even a chance to pick up a little pocket change on the 13th hole by hitting a hole-in-one. Two years ago one lucky player did just that and put a cool $10,000.00 in his wallet! Our two "heavy hitters" (we're talking total poundage here), Pat "Pato" Selders and "Big Jim" Costanza teamed up with Big Jim's brother Gino and Mike McVey to try and bring home the trophy. They came up a little bit short of the winning score, but put up a nice 6 under par for the day and had a great time.

Afterwards, there is always a wonderful dinner, raffles, trophy presentations and, of course, lots of stories about the day's play. With the help of a lot of friends and family, Andy, Don's son, and his mom, "JoJo" put on a great event to raise money for Don's favorite charities and city programs. It was another awesome day to honor a great man put on by a wonderful family. Congratulations to the Montgomery family and to all who helped make the day such a success.

On May 17th, to the delight of many area residents and business ownders, The Monrovia Days Parade made it's way down Myrtle Ave. on a beautiful and warm Saturday morning. We always look forward to participating in the parade. This year we were asked to drive Mr. Chris Rich, one of Monrovia's school board members, and his family in Debbie's 1959 Series 62 Caddy. It was all good until the parade started and we were ready to go. No Chris Rich and family! It was the first parade we've ever done where our guest of honor didn't show up! That aside, we had a great time visiting with friends and enjoying the day. We want to thank the Monrovia Days Parade committee for including us in the event again this year. Great job, guys and gals!

as Team Dalcorp prepares to tee off.

"Big Jim" was still smiling at the end of the day.

Total concentration...Pato letting in all hang out!
...that ball might STILL be rolling...what a drive, Pato!
....this cart needs some sponsor stickers.
Never a doubt...

Big Jim with his "race face" on...

Still using his "Dead Eye" putter developed in the
70's by Joe Nocita, Pato was sinking putts
from every distance!

Mike, Gino, Pato and Big Jim...they haven't missed
many meals lately!
Always out doing good deeds, Andy buys a round of
drinks for his gang, Brad Bateson and Mike Pollard from
the drink lady, Debbie. He learned from the best...his dad, Don.

Dalcorp at Irwindale for 2nd Summit Race of the Year

On Sunday, May 4th Dalcorp Racing was at the 2nd event of the year for the Summit Racing Series at Irwindale, California. Erica, driving her 2005 Chevy Cobalt and AJ in the '64 Chevelle took out some heavy hitters on race day and put on a great show for the fans. Both cars were running consistent numbers and ironically almost the same numbers! The conditions were tough and the track was hot, hitting almost 135 degress by eliminations. The Cobalt and the Chevelle ran mid 6.70's all day and even in the heat, showed their consistency. Erica was dialed in at 6.77 and in the first round ran right on her number and then came back to run a 6.78 in second round only to lose by a few thousandths. AJ was on the same track, running 6.74 on a .72 dial. He took out one of the heavy hitters in the class first round, tree'd a his next victim in the second round before going "red" in the third. It was his first ever red light in competition and needless to say, he wasn't happy. But that's why they don't hand the trophy out until the end!
I want to thank all of our supporters; Good Neighbor Pharmacy, Barney's and The Only Place in Town, BG Oil, Chicago Title Insurance and Chris Shevlin, and of course, GM Racing and Chevrolet. This ECOtec-powered Cobalt has become an awesome bracket car; we can't wait until our next time at the track!

Thanks also to all of our friends and crew who helped out last Sunday. Debbie and I had to be away on business so everyone jumped in and did a great job! Pato, Andy, "Big Jim", Steve Warner, Brian, Lauren, Lindsay and Casey...you guys were fantastic! Maybe we should go away more often?
