Marv Good turns 61 in January, so when he walked through the doors of AREA 51 on the evening of December 12th, the last thing on his mind was his 60th birthday. When over 80 plus friends and family yelled "surprise," Marv was definitely surprised! His lovely wife, Luray, had been trying to plan a party for him since early 2009, but with her traveling schedule and Marv's tee times, softball schedule, and other pressing matters that demand his attention, it just wasn't happening....until December 12, 2009! Thinking he was coming to a Dalcorp Christmas party, Marv was greeted by many long time friends and family, some traveling from as far away as San Francisco to be here for the celebration.
As an added surprise, Luray had Marv's late mother's car, a 1974 Buick Skylark, completely detailed inside and out by "Second to None" detailing and on display for all to enjoy. Luray also took a little time to bring Marv up on stage for a little roasting and to give out a few gifts for categories like, "Who's older than Marv?" (Now there's one prize you don't want to win!)
It was great to see "old" friends and family reminiscing about days past, but also talking about what the future will bring. I think this group still has a few swings left in them, whether it be with a golf club or a baseball bat! Marv, we all want to be you when we grow up!
Marv's late mother's 1974 Buick Skylark. This
is one cool, low mileage ride!
Some of the old baseball gang...and they're still
playing!
"Hey, there isn't a Christmas party here!"
Surprise!
....it finally began to sink in. Marv, you've been had!
Nice job, Luray. It took almost a year but it
was worth it!
A few gifts for some dubious categories....
"I'm Keith Brown...darn glad to meet you."
Luray welcoming everyone and handing out a
few special gifts.
Marv still seemed a little stunned.
One of the gifts given to Marv by Denise "Neece"
Brown was an original "Claimer's" baseball
rooster from long ago. That's a keeper.
Erica and Kristy...the girls who make it happen!
Marv and Luray had time for "a moment."
Erica made one of Marv's favorites...
peanut butter cookies.
1 candle = 10 years. Do the math...
Now here's a look we might want to forget. Back
in the 70's at the old "DI"...The Desert Inn, Las Vegas.
Just kidding, Marv. You make it look good!
Luray finally able to relax a little...awesome party, Lu!
Luray and daughter Jessie.
Happy Birthday, Marv! May you always hit
the ball at which you are swinging!
